Setting up your Cascade-500W Gateway for the Allegro Kit

This article describes how to install your Cascade-500W gateway to work with the Allegro Kit and AWS.

1. Physical Installation

There are two ways to install and connect your Cascade-500W gateway:

LTE Mode: using the included power supply and the built-in LTE service. Simply attach the LTE antennas, power on the gateway, and wait a few minutes for the LED to turn green. Note: The Presto kit includes a SIM card and 90 days LTE service, after which you can continue to use the gateway with Ethernet.

Ethernet Mode: using Power-over-Ethernet to both power and connect the gateway to the Internet. Simply connect the gateway to a live 802.3AF PoE connection and wait a few minutes for the LED to turn green.

The Cascade-500W includes a mounting kit that can be used to install the device on a wall or ceiling. Refer to this article for advanced mounting options.

2. Deploy the AWS QuickStart

When you ordered your Allegro kit, you received an email confirmation with a link to the Allegro Setup Wizard. This wizard will help you launch the AWS QuickStart, then securely associate your Cascade-500W to that deployment on your AWS account. Follow those steps to start build out your application, and once completed return here for tips on how to verify the setup and begin adding sensors.

Note: If you cannot locate your email confirmation please contact support@rigado.com for assistance.

3. Verify the Cascade-500W is Online and Reporting to AWS

After completing the Allegro Setup Wizard, you can activate sensors to verify the Cascade-500W is online and transmitting data to your AWS QuickStart deployment. These can be done in any order, for example you can activate asset trackers then later activate temperature sensors.

If you do not see data reporting into your AWS deployment, contact AWS QuickStart support.
